Buffalo Bison: State Basketball Champions!

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

The game was as good as a basketball fan could ask for, but the last 20 seconds divided you in being a Buffalo fan or an Armstrong fan. Buffalo captured the 2007 boys basketball Class 4A State Title when Darrin Olmscheid hit a runner with 2.4 seconds left to give Buffalo a 67-65 win over Armstrong.

You can view Buffalo vs. Armstrong Championship game photos on FindBuffalo.com by clicking here

Olmscheid was an offensive machine hitting on all six of his three point shots taken in the game as well as the game winner. Both teams shot well but Buffalo shot 61% from the field for the game. In numerous exchanges the two teams went back and forth knocking down huge shots and threes, back and forth, keeping the packed Target Center in a frenzy.

Karl Olson scored 17, hitting some clutch free throws in the final minutes and Dee Broadnax had 14 and provided huge key plays in the game for the Bison.

Senior Josh Ortmann who left Thursday nights game with a severely sprained ankle somehow managed to start and log valuable minutes for Buffalo while adding 9 points. Once again, the team play of Buffalo was it’s biggest asset as players made contributions when called upon.

Buffalo finished their state championship season with a 28-3 record and won their last 17 games to close out the season. Buffalo, MN students and fans were living up the championship atmosphere at Target Center in Minneapolis as thousands of fans cheered on Buffalo and witnessed and amazing game for the state title.

The team came home to Buffalo, MN on Sunday to a parade through town followed by a pep rally at the Buffalo High School. View photos of the game and parade here

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

John and Marlene Carson, authors of the recently released novels, Ramblin’ Rose and The Internet Newsletter and Last Resort kicked off the 2007 book signing tour with a stop at Buffalo Books and Coffee in downtown Buffalo, Mn on St. Patrick’s day.

The three hour event was a success thanks to the team effort of Buffalo Books & Coffee owner, Liz Purcell and her staff who did a great job of setting up, promoting and hosting the event. The staff was friendly, professional and pleasant and it was easy to see why the store is so popular. John and Marlene are looking forward to being invited back in the future and left many autographed copies in the store at the owner’s request. The coffee was great, too!

Ramblin’ Rose and The Internet Newsletter is available at Buffalo Books & Coffee, other stores and can be purchased online.

The Midwest Book review said: “Ramblin’ Rose And The Internet Newsletter is very highly recommended as an active and fun read, particularly for children, for the inventive and engaging story it tells.”
